Radio is a local medium and reaches listeners in every corner of Canada regardless of the size of the market. Radio’s reach is at 87% of Canadians 12+, which translates to 27.4 million people each week. Time spent per listener at 16.6 hours per week. Nearly half of radio tuning is done at home, over a third in the car and 20% at work.
Career Day has continued to grow every year assisting students with the how to’s of finding their way in Broadcasting. The OAB members continually support this worthwhile event by donating time and resources. Career Day has become a integral part of many broadcast programs across Ontario.
The Ontario Association of Broadcasters was established in 1950, originally as the Central Canada Broadcasters Association, to serve the common interests of privately owned radio and television station operators in the province. Membership is open to Radio and Television stations licensed in Ontario. Post-secondary schools, businesses and organizations with an interest in the broadcast industry are eligible for associate membership.
